I will be out of town January 7th-11th. All orders of in-stock physical product placed during this time will be shipped on Monday the 12th. Thanks in advance for the understanding! Dismiss
Hi everyone,
Sparkle is starting to ship to stores in March so I thought I’d post the free patterns for this collection. (Click on the captions to have them sent to your email or you can also link to them on the sidebar of my blog or on the downloads page.)
Both of them use the Sparkle panel, but different parts of it so you can make both with one cut, plus yardage. There will even be a couple of blocks left over to make placemats or other small gifts! Oh – here is the Sparkle panel so you can take a peek….
And for those of you who are participating in the APQQuiltAlong – isn’t it fun? I haven’t started quilting but I did manage to get my Easy Addition Sparkle blocks (pattern in the most recent issues of Quilts and More) pieced together. It was super-fast-and-easy – so much so it felt like I must be cheating!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Happy quilting!
Oh my goodness the day has finally come when I can say that my Free-Motion Quilting Idea App has launched! Pinching myself! Then pinching myself again! It is a companion piece to the book and the sampler of the same name and it is all new in the App Store for your iPad and iPhone. (An android version is to follow – I don’t have a date yet.)
The Free-Motion Quilting Idea App on the iPad
The Free-Motion Quilting Idea App on the iPhone
As many of you know, The Free-Motion Quilting Idea Book is a reference tool – to keep by your machine and spark your imagination. It is comprised of drawings that show you, step-by-step, how to form many different free-motion patterns and then apply them to blocks, sashing, and borders. It is a reference tool to keep by your machine, really. If you can do just a few free-motion patterns you CAN do custom-style quilting. I really believe that. If I can do it you can too!
The App builds further expands that concept, showing you step-by-step through, through animation and video, how to form the basic allover designs that all the designs in the book were based upon. In the app you can actually see each of the allover patterns animated and many of them stitched out by me on the BERNINA Q Series!
On the app you can actually see this paisley design being drawn out!
Or you can watch me quilt it on a video…
I want to thank for C&T and BERNINA for making this project a reality. Seriously, I could have never ever done with with the help and support of these fantastic companies. All the filming was done at BERNINA USA headquarters in Chicago with an amazing and the entire thing was put together by the wonderful people at C&T Publishing, who had the vision to believe in the project in the first place. And I want to thank you guys out there for your enthusiastic reception of The Free-Motion Quilting Idea Book – quilters are amazingly creative and generous people.

Note: The winner of the copy of Modern Elegance from this post is Lisa, who likes bright navy. The winner of the Brewer blog hop stop is Amanda, who likes colors and polka dots. The winner of the APQ stop is the super-organized Anne, who has made 30 gingerbread pockets, among other things . Congratulations! (All other winners will be announced on the respective blogs.)
Hi guys,
It is the last day of the Modern Elegance coloring book blog hop. I hope you’ve enjoyed following along! Today is my turn to give away a book…
Okay, I have to confess I’m not a great colorer. (Happily, coloring is not a skill that is required when quilting.) I’m not very good at staying in the lines so I quickly switched from markers to colored pencils to hide my mistakes! This made it much more fun!
And then I discovered that, once I colored, I could recolor things in photoshop really quickly. Whoopeeeeeee!
For the final chance to enter to win an ebook, leave me a comment on this post telling me YOUR favorite color! One entry per person please and the deadline is end of day this Sunday the 13th.
