Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks, Volume 4, Giveaway

Hi everyone!

Guess what is on newsstands right now? The fourth issue of Quiltmaker’s 100 blocks! I’ll be giving away a free issue of this fun magazine later on in this post and so will a lot of other designers. Not to mention there are other GREAT prizes.  Hop on over to Quiltmaker to find out more.

This issue is so much fun and is a great bargain too!  I designed a block in Veranda using a combination of applique and piecing this time.

Three of these in a row would make a great springtime table runner.  But wait… we haven’t even gotten to Christmas – why am I talking about spring?

Speaking of the holidays, I have done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to prepare for them.  I haven’t made a gift, bought a present, or even thought about decorations.  I HAVE driven an inordinate amount of carpools shuttling kids to Nutcracker rehearsals, so that should count for something.  Is anyone else in such a quandry?

But I know there are more organized souls out there who start sewing gifts in July and I would love to hear yours ideas.  So, to enter the giveaway for Volume 4 of Quiltermaker’s 100 Blocks, leave a comment describing something you have been working on for someone else (or for yourself !).  And if you are hopelessly behind, like me, tell me what you would like to make.  You must be a follower to enter and please leave me a way to contact you should you win. The deadline to enter is this Sunday, the 13th, at midnight.

This giveaway is now closed… Thanks for your interest!
Good luck and happy sewing!

  1. Wow, I love your block, it's gorgeous! That looks like a really great read!

I am constantly trying to catch up with things…I feel like I have my Christmas sewing under control (not that I've started yet, but in my mind at least, the timeline is doable), lol.

  2. I love your block. I am working on memory quilts for my Son and Daughter. The quilts capture the life of my youngest Son who passed away Dec 11, 2010. It is a labour of love.

  3. Your block is lovely! I'm working on a tree skirt for my sister. Thanks for the chance.

  4. I'm working on some sampler quilts made from 2 1/2" strips. Fast and easy!

  5. Your block is darling! I love Veranda, too! I would like anything made from it. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Hi, I'd like to invite you to post your giveaways on our giveaway directory: Giveaway Scout (http://www.giveawayscout.com). Please submit your blog here: http://www.giveawayscout.com/join/ Once you receive our confirmation email you can post your giveaways on our site. Thanks.

  7. Very pretty block…love the colors!! I just finished a runner and some rag bags. Then I'll be working on some table toppers and mug rugs.

  8. Love the applique flowers – that is my next thing to try. I'm making a pirate quilt using Emily Taylor fabric for my other half….who thinks he is a pirate!

  9. I have made a couple of things for Christmas as I have to send my presents overseas. can't tell you what they are though because my BFF reads you blog! and I know she will have a sneaky look here….. would love to win one of these mags. Thanks

  10. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your block ๐Ÿ˜€
    And thanks for the chance!

I'd love to make a Grandma's Garden quilt for my Sister's baby!

  11. Only yesterday I made a list of all my WiP's and I was very surprised to see ELEVEN.
It didn't stop me to start a new quilt though, for Christmas (nr 11). As I was piecing it (and will continue today) I thought of an uncle of my husband's; I think he'd like it very much!
Until now I have finished 12 quilts, big and tiny.
    And kept 1.

  12. Well, I've been busy working on preemie quilts, doll quilts and a baby quilt for my neighbor. None of these are for Christmas, though! I am working on a quilt that will be under the tree for my daughter (yes, it will!)

  13. I am working on a quilt for my husband. Winter has come already so I guess I better get going !! Thanks for the give away.

  14. I've sewn 3 car caddies, a zippered pouch and an art rollup. None of them are technically quilting projects but they are for Christmas. 3 will go in my Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes and 2 will be for our grandsons. And my list is very long – I hope I can get most of it done! Thanks for showing your lovely block and for sharing the magazine.

  15. I love your block!
I'm working on a lap quilt for my daughter for Christmas – hope I can finish it in time!!

  16. I'm working on two different projects: the Quilt Show half-square triangle exchange quilt top and weekly blocks for Barbara Brackmans Civil War Quilt. Having fun as always.

  17. I finished making stockings for the Stockings for Kids project, which really got me into the mood! Now I am working on small projects for gifts: table runners, mostly. I have an aunt for whom I know my table runner will become the mat for her dear dog's dinner bowl, which is fine with me.

She's the same aunt I thought of when I saw your block; it reminds me of Mexican tiles, which remind me of her and her home. Funny how memory works…

  18. First of all, am loving your block!! It's just darling. I've been very busy at the sewing machine by day and in the evenings doing handwork. I am making a whimsical owl quilt from a Connecting Threads pattern and am stitching SewHappy.Me's Christmas Banner (and keeping up!! Imagine that!!).

  19. I would love to do some fabric lamps, but didn't start till now.And some journal covers for my friends!

  20. I have made 4 or 5 lap quilts to give as Christmas gifts and have a long list of other things I want to make. I do try to start early, but often get sidetracked working on other projects that need to be finished quickly. Love your block! I'm anxious to get this magazine with so much inspiration all in one place.

  21. I have 4 childrens quilts ready to wrap, one for each of our gandchildren. The other biggie is a tee shirt quilt for hubby, it is at your favorite long arm quilter now, can't wait to see what Debra N comes up with, I am sure it will be lovely!

  22. I just got the pattern yesterday (PDF) for a baby quilt I am making for someone for Christmas. I have the fabric. Now I need to get cutting! I am a follower. Thanks, Amanda.

  23. Your block is beautiful-love that you used applique.

I'm working on a dinosaur quilt (appliqued blocks) and a yo-yo snowman-both for grandchildren.

  24. I have grand plans for sewing and knitting many of my Christmas gifts. Now, I just need to get them started!

  25. Your block is amazing and you are right it would make a great spring time table runner. I much prefer to think about spring (denial is a great place to be). I have a ton of projects started for Christmas – actually a couple of table runners. Now to only get them finished.

To tell you about one. The table runner is made up of 6 circles that are individual. I used insul bright so that they can be separated and used as hot pads. Or you can use them as placemats or you can button them together and use as a table runner. Very clever if I finish it. LOL

  26. I am still making Christmas placemats (from last Christmas!!) for my 3 nieces! Thanks for the chance, Dianne

  27. Your block is beautiful!! I am so far behind ๐Ÿ™‚ I've been working on a block of the month I would like to give to my mother and just can't seem to focus on it!!

  28. I haven't started Christmas projects yet. Yikes!
I'm a follower and you are inspiring me to get moving!

  29. I am hopelessly behind too. I have not actually had time to sit down and sew in weeks. With the one exception of making our dog a bed. But he was so could so he needed something. ;0)

  30. Super cute block, love your fabric choices. I was thinking of making some mug rugs for gifts for people at work, but thinking is as far as I've gotten.

  31. Well, thank goodness for Amazon.com LOL. I can shop while I am sitting at home on my computer. I have gotten a few golf goodies for my husband, and a couple computer goodies for the son. It helps to find those deals that aren't in the store, and I like when I can get the free shipping. I hate to pay for shipping!

  32. I finished a top for my cousin for Christmas, one of Bonnie Hunter's from Adventures with Leaders and Enders. My cousin is a big go green kinda girl, so I think she will love that it is made with left-over scraps and what would be throw-away thread!

Thanks for the chance to win!

  33. First, love gthe block!. I made a log cabin quilt in black and white for my son and wife….started it before Christmas last year, but is finally done. Now I need to make snap happy bags for my girls-daughter, DIL and granddaughter. Oh, and a kitchen item for guild exchange. Opps…guess I am behind

  34. Trying to finish an I spy quilt in time for Christmas, but I really want to put it aside and start my apple core charm quilt

  35. Loving the block Amanda, but you always do beautiful things. Actually I have been working on things for others. I have made 4 baby quilts, working on a quilt for Steve, have 4 table runners in the works, working on a commissioned T-shirt quilt and have another quilt ready to go into the frame. Plus a gazillion mug rugs and potholders.

  36. Beautiful block, I see so many possibilities with it. I'm with you, hopelessly behind, but I have big plans for some Christmas stockings and a table runner. Now if life would just stop getting in the way.

  37. Amanda, I made a Nook cover for my Mom for Christmas. She loves that Nook! I'm in the process of making my son a quilt for Christmas. I'm way behind on that!

  38. Have several bags I wanted to make for Christmas gifts but I haven't even begun! I have been working on costumes for "Arsenic and Old Lace". Lots of fun working with vintage patterns.

My daughter studied classical ballet for many years, recently decided to stop after a very painful, recurring injury. She danced almost all the children's parts in the big Nutcracker here in the capitol city (I'm in the same state that you are.) So I feel your carpool pain! Been there, done that!

  39. I've been working on a small, 30 inch Christmas quilt for months-and it's taking me forever to make. Of course it is all hand pieced!

  40. Amanda,
I just finished a quilt using Veranda, which just happens to be my favorite fabric for 2011, BTW! I also just finished a quilt for my dear aunt who lost her husband of 55 years this summer. My son's Christmas gift quilt is at the long arm quilter's house and I'm heading to Myrtle Beach in a few. Busy times for one and all. Have a joyous holiday with all whom you love!

  41. What you've designed with your fabric design and colors is beautiful. Looks like a Dogwood tree. This year nothing got done, and I'm not stressing – refuse to. I would have liked to have been working on mini quilts for people.

  42. I have been using orphan blocks to make potholders for Christmas gifts. They are turning out great, too. AND just finished a birdhouse quilt for a dear friend that can be seen here…
    Thanks for the giveaway chance.

  43. I always have a basket downstairs near my purse with "projects to go" or hand work to carry with me whether it is something that needs the threads trimmed, pieces that nee to be turned and stuffed for dolls or bears, knitting, what ever. If I am caught waiting or if my husband does the driving, I get a lot done.n I just change baskets depending on what needs to be done and how much time it will take.

  44. I love your block and the colors you used…, I'm working in some bags to give away, yes, some christmas gifts and I'm looking forward to make a table runner finally this year

  45. I am way behind on a bunch of bindings…Jammer's fire truck quilt, his 100 Good Wishes quilt, and Sunshine's Luv U cuddle quilt. With 2 little ones around there is never enough time. I would really love to make something for everyone in my family this year and hope that I can at least churn out mug rugs for all. Next year I'm planning on placemat sets.

  46. I love your little flowers. Thanks for the chance to win.

  47. So I am so far behind….nothing bought, nothing done and 2 trips in-between! My plan is to spend Sunday this week armed with Visa and Amazon. When the bulk is on it's way I hope to make 4 little girls holiday aprons to bake with Nana.

  48. Fantastic block. I am a follower and look forward to your site. I am currently quilting a blue and brown quilt called Chocolate for Christmas for myself. I need to spoiled too. Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Volume 4 is a magazine that you just have to have. Thanks for all the fun and all of the wonderful blocks.

    Sandi T.

  49. I haven't been doing any Christmas sewing yet but I think your block would make an awesome tablerunner that my Aunt would love. Thanks!

  50. Amanda that is a beautiful block. I love your line of everything. Christmas has me hopping, Im working on altering Bride's maid dresses for a Christmas wedding here in my town, and a 12 days of Christmas quilt along quilt over at sew sweetness. So fun. Thanks for this giveaway. I'd love that issue.

  51. Love the block and fabric. I am making a house quilt out of neutrals and I just finished a quilt made from striped and plaid shirtings, so I am ready for some flowery color!

  52. I have a few quilts in the works but there is no way they will be finished by Christmas. I would love to make some pouches. I think those are definitely doable. Thanks for the giveaway.

  53. It's time for me to get my act together and start making some gifts. Seems we are on the fast track to Christmas. I've got gifts made for my long distance BFF but can't reveal it here. I made a lot of tabletoppers for birthday gifts this year so need to come up with something different now for Christmas. Your block is lovely – thanks for a chance in your giveaway.

  54. Gorgeous block you designed…I love for a block to be a little different, like having a mix of applique (or even embroidery) with the piecing. I so need to get going on Christmas gifts – and I promised some bazaar (not bizarre) items to the historical society, too. EEK!

  55. The only preparation I've made for a Christmas gift I'm making is to buy the pattern and the fabric. I'm making a large wool table runner for my SIL & BIL. Thanks for the opportunity to enter your great giveaway!

  56. I made a springtime table runner for my daughter in a workshop and it will be part of her Christmas gift. Now I'm making a small Christmas tree wallhanging. Its mostly applique and has gold rickrack embellishment. Love your block design! tkmattson@hotmail.com

  57. I have been working on a quilt for my mother forever! Its slow going and I don't really know why!

  58. I'm working on a set of vintage aprons for mom and sisters. Hopefully will get them done in time! Also have two quilts to bind for some nephews. And a Christmas dress for my daughter. And my WIP list may be getting a little out of control…

  59. What a beautiful block. I love the colors you used.

  60. Congrats on your great block being in the magazine.
I have made a few pillows this year for Christmas presents and some pot holders.

  61. I am usually WAY ahead of the pack in regards to getting christmas presents made. I have made king size quilts for all my kids for the last couple of years but this year my health has gotten the best of me and I haven't made any christmas presents. If I feel better today I'm going to make some placemats for the kids. Personalized for each one.

I love your block and the outside border fabric is FAB!!!

  62. Love the colors of the block. I am on some applique mobile phone pouches now. It's going to be for some dear friends and fellow crafters.

  63. Very nice block! I haven't sewn a thing for Christmas yet..yea…I know, I'm hopelessly behind. Oh well, I'll get some seat time at my machine this weekend and get started on some dish towel hems and some fabric napkins.

  64. Since 2007 I've been making, all-hand pieced and quilted, a grandmother's flower garden quilt for my god-daughter's first child. She is only 10 now so I still have some time to finish….I hope.

  65. I'm still working on a Tarheel quilt that I promised my husband last year for Christmas. Love your pieced & appliqued block. Thanks for the chance to win.

  66. I am working on a paper pieced Mariners Compass. Love your block!

  67. Am currently working on a table mat for my mother-in-law

  68. Love your block and the colors and fabric you used. Makes my mouth water LOL I just finished a set of applique placemats for my daughter-in-law. I hope to make a couple of those microwave tater bags for some Christmas gifts. From there I hope to get started on some preemie Quils for Kids.

  69. Such a pretty block. I love the combination of piecing and applique. My stitching friends and I have just started working on some projects (smaller ones) for Christmas. We have made mug rugs, pillow cases and zip bags. I feel very productive when we get together.

  70. I haven't even started anything for Christmas gifts! I would so love to make a "Halloween" quilt for Lillian the Halloween baby — my God-daughter's daughter who turned 1 this year. I have the fabric and all; just haven't found the right pattern yet. Maybe I can work on that soon. But right now, I'm just not into the Holidays this year and my health issues is dragging me down. *sigh*

Anyway, thank you for a chance to win!

  71. Great block! I always try to make things for my mom–so far I have a pair of socks knit. I also always make ornaments for everyone–this year I'm knitting miniature stockings. I'd really like to have my son's quilt done for him for Christmas–don't know if that will happen. Thanks for the chance to win!

  72. Love your block great for the two granddaughters. I have been a sewing fool… I have made makeup bags, purses, bears dolls.. etc… I will just keep going until Christmas… love giving my projects away.

  73. Love your block and I have been working and lap top bags for the kids and just made a quilt top with hand embroidery in it! Thank You!

  74. I, too, am hopelessly behind. My daughter got married this summer and I have not gotten back on track since then. I hope to finish an embroidered wedding throw pillow for their Christmas present and I still owe them Christmas stockings!

  75. Love your block, so bright and cheery! Right now I am working on some Christmas ornaments, a table runner, and some pillows and numerous other things. It seems that my mind is always working on something quilty all the time. Thank you for this great giveaway.

Have a super great sewing and quilting day.

  76. I am also hopelessly behind. In fact, I haven't started anything yet! My niece and I decided to have a Christmas craft workday the next time we get together. No idea what we might work on, though. She thought potholders would be good. I like the idea of placemats and table runners. Maybe we'll do a combination of the three and perhaps even through in a dish towel or two to complete the ensemble. But that doesn't take care of the men/boys/children.
    Love the block and fabric!

  77. Your block is lovely and I can't wait to see more of your work. I just finished an heirloom Wedding Quilt for a dear friends daughter.

  78. I would love to see this books with blocks designed by some of my favorite quilt designers.

I am far behind on my Xmas projects too. I am in the middle of a camera bag, quilt and table topper. I have 2-3 more quilts in addition to this, and the little projects that just might (probably) won't get done.

  79. Don't sweat the schedule – I gave up that mid-summer sewing a long time ago and have managed to survive all these years! The holidays are supposed to be fun.

  80. I have been a follower for a while. I make something for everyone every Christmas. I am so behind. This year I am making a notepad and pen holder for all the girls and a plaid quilt for one of my granddaughters and then I have to make ornaments for everyone. So much to do so little time. Hugs

  81. Beautiful block! This year we are taking the family to Hawaii so that is their gift. No wrapping required! I have finished some socks for the family that isn't going on the trip and will be making some homemade soap and almond roca for the rest.

  82. The best thing about blog reading is all the tutorials out there. I followed the Moda one and tried several of their gift ideas.

  83. I have a cross stitch seascape I've been working on for a couple of years. It's beautiful but quite fiddly to work on because of all the shading.

  84. Your block is beautiful! Currently I am working on a baby quilt for my next grandbaby…ties all in blues, blue stripes, blue plaids, etc. He doesn't arrive by February, so maybe I can get this done??? ๐Ÿ™‚ Love reading your blog as well as those of the others…what a great way to start my day!

  85. I'm so not thinking Christmas yet, as I am making my daughter's wedding gown (Jan 7 date) – and I know what you mean about Nutcracker rehearsals, as she is a dancer…and I used to be there working on costumes as well…not just carpooling.
I love your block – reminds me not only of hearts but the dogwood trees in our yard, so I think my spring runner would have to be white and pink flowers!

  86. Very pretty block! I work part time at a quilt shop, so I am always working on models, it seems. I love retreats so I can spend some serious time doing my own thing.
    Karen in Breezy Point

  87. I have so many things on my list that I want to do, but I always run late!! I did recently finish a quilt for my first grandbaby– Clarabel– and it will be part of her Christmas gift. ๐Ÿ™‚ Now, on to my other projects… ๐Ÿ™‚

  88. I'm working on many things right now. I do samples for my LQS and I am also trying to finish a few quilts that I'm doing for my nieces and my mom. I have LOT of work to do! Thanks for the opportunity to win.=)

  89. What a great block! Thanks for sharing.

  90. I am finishing up the "Ruff Patch" baby quilt from the Quiltmaker magazine as my donation to the annual silent auction held at my local animal shelter.

  91. I am one of those people who have grandios ideas but not enough time. I've been working on 3 baby quilts but I work outside of the home so I have gotten really far behind. Iused to plan homemade gifts for every one and then end up having to buy at the last minute because I didn't have enough time to make them. This year I think it will mostly be gift cards since almost everyone in my family lives far away and postage is so high

  92. BEAUTIFUL block Amanda. It would make a beautiful table runner.

Christmas? ACK! NO! I am in the same boat as you and *I* have no excuse. I wanted to start back in June and never did. I started 2 weeks ago making a table runner and stopped before finishing cutting all the fabrics for some valid reason although I don't recall what it was. I just know once that 'emergency' was over I have not gone back to get moving on that again yet.

And this is the first year I haven't even bought one thing yet. Over the past three years I have been buying little gifts all throught the year and have a huge pile of goodies by now. Sadly, that has not happened this year because we've had a few of our kids needing help so I opted to help them rather than to do the extra gift stuff since that was more important to help them instead.

  93. I would love to work on ANYTHING, but work and family obligations, including a trip across the country to take care of my 4 grandkids for 5 days has completely taken the place of any chance at sewing and quilting. I am going to a quilt retreat the 1st weekend in Dec tho, so then I hope to work on some project, as undecided, but many projects to choose from!

  94. I am working on a quilt for one of my sons. It is frustrating me cause it is not going togather as well as I had planned. I have lots of other ideas rattling around in my mind but they probably will have to wait till next year. Thanks!

  95. That's a beautiful block! Each year I choose a theme for my granddaughter and make a few simple items, definitely an ornament and maybe a doll quilt or a milk glass rug for santa…So far I've gotten as far as choosing the them for this year-snowmen! My other projects include finishing up what I didn't finish last year ๐Ÿ™‚

  96. You are not alone, Amanda! It is an almost fatalistic aversion to thinking about Christmas until it is almost too late, then POW!!! panic sets in, or a neat idea comes to me and everyone gets basically the same thing. One year I made at least a dozen fancy, schmancy shower caps with lots of organza and satin, and still bump into them occasionally. They were simple but desirable and useful! Your block rocks too!

  97. Hey there! I've been a follower of yours for quite awhile now. Though I seem to lurk more than leave comments. ๐Ÿ™‚
I tell ya….Nov 11th and what I thought I could accomplish for this year's gift giving…just isn't happening! Seriously…if you are like me you likely think in January….if I start now….
Every flippin year I want to make a new Christmas tree skirt…again not happening. We have the same tree skirt I made when we first married over 26 years ago. Thanks for the chance to win and congrats on your block in the magazine!!!

  98. Just love your block, it's adorable! I think I'd rather think about spring too – just no way I'm gonna catch up for Christmas. I made a Pineapple Blossom for friends and thought I had a great jump on it because I finished the top in May. However, it won't get back from the quilter until after Thanksgiving. Eeessh!

  99. I am working on an small quilt for my daughter. Each block features machine applique and embroidery. This has been a stop-and-start project. I hope to finish it by the end of the weekend!

I love your block! Thanks for sharing.

  100. I'm already a follower. I never make anything as a gift unless it's a mug rug. I just never know when and if I'll actually finish something.

    I adore your block!!!!

  101. Congratulations on having your lovely block selected for this year's block book!
I have been making mittens for Christmas gifts. I make them from felted wool sweaters that I buy in the thrift stores. The mittens are lined with fleece and are very warm. Also, just for stocking stuffers, I've made lots of little pouches to hold purse packs of kleenex. These are very quick and easy to make.
    Linda in Southern Illinois

  102. I am working on a King Size Hot Rod quilt for a friend with pillow cases to match.
Thank you for the chance to win.
    Brenda L

  103. Your block is lovely. I haven't started on a thing for the holidays. I had planned to make doll quilts for my 4 granddaughters and some small bags for my daughter, daughter-in-law, and a dear friend. I have thought about doing some baking ( I usually give an assortment of sweet breads to our kids), but haven't even made a grocery list of what is needed. I think I need more time or perhaps a clone. Have a great holiday season!

  104. I have been working on a baby quilt for my niece's baby and advent calendars for my two grandsons.

  105. I really love your block, and so many possibilities with colors and fabric choices. I have been making christmas presents since last month, I wanted to be ready this year, but not sure if I will, lol. I make quilted items, ornaments, and punch needle pieces.

  106. I am already a follower. I have been a part of a Christmas qal and made a quilt. Tomorrow is our last day and I have organized 4 projects I want to complete or at least make a good headway on, two of which are gifts. I love your block and think it would be very pretty in Christmas fabrics. Especially as a runner.

  107. I am going to make placemat sets and table runners for Christmas gifts this year. That is, once I finish the ornaments that I am making for a swap, and the little gift that I am making to go with the ornament… maybe I should stop blog-hopping and get to sewing!
I have joined up to follow your blog as well..

  108. I have been working on several things but the most important is a binding for my Mother's Stack N Whack quilt I taughter her to make. She needed help binding the quilt because of health issue.

  109. I would love to make a mini wall quilt for relatives & friends for xmas. But I haven't started yet. Waiting to win Vol 4 to use some of the blocks – how's that for a good reason to procrastinate! Thanks for the chance…..

  110. i have several quilts in various stages to give and a list of little projects make. one of my little projects could use your little appliques … such a pretty block!
i am one of your happy followers.

  111. I usually do my holiday sewing right after and during the holidays, but for the next year. That way, by summer, I'm mostly done, and can do stuff for myself. I find it fun to work on holiday stuff during the holidays, but dont want to be pressured to finish it for the current year.

  112. I love your block! The colors are so bright and cheery! I don't usually work on handmade items for Christmas, but this year is different. My grandsons are getting old enough to play with cars (ages 5 12 to 1 yr.) so I am using a panel that has a little town with a road on it and making it as a play quilt. I have different car, truck and street sign fabric for the backing. They can carry, drag whatever and have a little quilt to drive their cars on!

  113. It's OK to think about Spring! I love your flowers. Thanks for the chance to win

  114. My project, a quilt for my sister. My BIL passed away in the spring and she has had a lot of changes in her life this year. She just moved into a new house and I think a quilt to wrap up in is just the thing for her. Thanks for a chance to win!

  115. I have a really neat little idea for canvas bowls. Just to use on your table or desk. But I have yet to start on them! I would like to make 4 sets, so I need to get underway!!

  116. I'm working on a queen size Christmas quilt. The medallion center is completed and now I'm free piecing seasonal words to go around.

  117. Very cute block! I always have grand ideas for Christmas sewing, but when reality sets in, I find myself out shopping! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ LOL I am working on a few scarves. Thanks for the fun!

  118. I'm in the same boat as you are regaring Christmas preparations. I would like to make something cute for my 18 month old granddaughter but I don't have any ideas yet. Good luck with yours.

  119. i am making jammies and robes for grands for christmas (if i ever finish the back to school clothes – but i did get halloween costumes done in time) and dolls, i am making dolls – one wants a hammock for her doll –

  120. Love your block! Thanks for your opportunity. Linda C

  127. I'm supposed to be finishing a kingsize quilt for Christmas, but I haven't worked on it since July. I have a bunch of embroidery projects started, but I am not very good at it, so I don't get them out often. If anything gets done, it will be a miracle. Thanks for the opportunity to win something fun!

  128. I'm in the middle of a couple of projects….one Christmas runner for a great friend of mine and a Quilt that our year 7s are making as an art project to leave at the school as a memorial of them! They've each been stitching a block with their name on it and I'm doing the 'in-between' blocks and putting it all together. I must hurry with both as the school year's nearly over and Christmas is coming fast!
    sugary hugs

  130. Ok, you asked for it… I started a project in July. It's a machine embroidered book "Twas the Night Before Christmas"! Each page takes between 4 and 6.5 hours to embroider and there will be 26 pages!! My plan is to make 3 books to give to each of my children's families. Now, here's the catch…I'm making them for Christmas 2012!!!!

  137. I love your spplique with the pieceing. The applique is so delicate. I am also in the same boat, nothing started. Been making totes here in Az for our Homeless Ministry. We only need 400. But looking forward to making some blocks from al the beautiful blocks.

  141. I love your design style! I just started "following" you. Thanks for the incentive. I have a tendency to procrastinate (I'm working on that) so I haven't done any Christmas sewing. I'd like to quilt up a couple of Fleece quilts for some of our friends. But in all honesty, it probably won't happen this year. I am currently working on a couple of Christmas stockings. Our guild donates a bunch to the local Senior Citizens every year.

  148. Last Christmas the members of my small quilt group exchanged fabrics with each other. We were to sew a quilt using the fabrics we received that we thought the fabric owner would like. Another member volunteered to machine quilt all the quilt tops for us! Our quilt "reveal" will be during the first week in December. I've finished my quilt and I am excited to see what the other members have made.

  156. I'm always behind on everything, but that's okay. I have one QOV quilt I finished, but didn't like the border so feel I need to redo so it doesn't wave…then I inherited another almost done quilt for QOV that needs a few more blocks to make it lap size. So I'm cutting out blocks for that. Would love to win the magazine, thanks for the chance ๐Ÿ™‚

  175. Amanda, I missed your opportunity but do like your block design for Volume 4. The applique flowers remind me of a heart design. I decided long ago not to try for holiday deadlines! It puts way too much pressure on me and I'm usually not happy with the end result. I'd rather give an unexpected surprise when the receiver has no idea something is coming for them! Sandi

  176. Amanda,
We met at Spring Market and I just wanted to tell you that I love the block you did for 100 Blocks! It is darling and the colors are terrific.
