Meadow Dance Ruler Panel

Hi everyone!  Happy Labor Day weekend!

I hope everyone is getting a little bit of relaxation this weekend.

I’ve been getting a lot of emails inquiring about my new Meadow Dance ruler panel for Contempo or Benartex.  I had refrained from announcing it here on the blog until it started shipping but since it came in from the printer this week I thought I’d take the opportunity to let you know the details.

Some of you might remember that about a year ago I developed a ruler panel specifically for BERNINA ruler sets.  Well, this year I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to develop another panel – this time one to work with Westalee rulers.  Like the BERNINA panel, it has the markings you need for rulerwork printed on the fabric, but it is very different from the BERNINA panel because Westalee rulers are very different in shape.

Leonie West of Australia is the wonderfully creative designer of Westalee rulers.  There are hundreds to choose from and we just chose a small sampling to showcase in the panel.

We made up two different designs for the panel.  Each uses 4 rulers.  The first design is called “Beautiful Borders” and it features some versatile border designs, a fun rotational design, and one of the new Flying Bell Curve rulers.  The Westalee part number for this set is  #WT-MDBBSET.

The second set is called “Feather Focus” and I bet you can guess what emphasizes!  There is a feather template and a feather wreath template in this set, as well as a Between the Line pebble ruler and the 6” arc tool (which are some of my personal favorites!)  The Westalee part number for this set is  #WT-MDFFSET.  A 6-point crosshair square is also highly recommended for the feathers design, although it isn’t completely necessary as you can can also use the 30 degree markings on one of your cutting rulers as a substitute.

I wrote a guidebook for how to use the ruler sets on the panel.  Directions for both designs are included in the guidebook.  So you can get two panels and try both designs or just stick with one.

So, how do you get these designs?  I’m a huge supporter of local shops so I’ve love it if you would ask your local shop to order the guidebook, rulers, and ruler panel.  I do also stock the guidebook on my website for those of you who don’t have a local shop, although I don’t have the space to stock rulers and panels.  I am hoping some shops that stock these will post in my Facebook group.  (I also post my teaching engagements in my Facebook Group if there are openings prior to the dates.)

I also have an Aurifil thread collection that coordinates both with this panel and with my Meadowsweet pattern, but it is temporarily out of stock.  I’ll let you know when it is back in.

“Meadowsweet”

So, that is the new Meadow Dance ruler panel.  I hope you like it!  I love teaching rulerwork and it is always fun to have a tool to make it easy and fun!

Happy Labor Day and happy quilting!

Amanda
