Traditional Feathers Quilting Collection

Posted on 2 Comments

Hi guys!

I’ve been awash with prepping some super-exciting educational new products for you all in the wake of BERNINA University.  You’ll see a lot of new things in the next couple of months (including new fabric, a new quilt-as-you-go block of the month featuring my Meadow Dance line, and a new ruler panel – this time featuring Westalee rulers), but before we go there I wanted to introduce:

My new quilting collection digitized for longarm machines and domestic embroidery machines – the “Traditional Feathers Quilting Collection”!

This collection is drawn out in a similar manner to the way I teach free-motioning feathers, so it works beautifully both on its own in conjunction with your own free-motion designs.

I love to support local shops, so please ask them to order it if you can.  If you aren’t lucky enough to have a local shop you can find the Traditional Feathers Quilting Collection here.

Happy quilting!

Amanda

Posted on 1 Comment

Hi guys!  Well, I’m really happy to tell you that my Folk Art Fantasy patterns are finally shipping in anticipation of the fabric shipping in just a few weeks.  If interested, ask your local shop to order them or, if you don’t have a local shop, you can find them here.  I love to support local shops when possible.

Also, this week Benartex is sponsoring a blog hop with two other Amandas and an Alison.  (Happy coincidence but also a funny one!)  Be sure to check out what each of them is making with Folk Art Fantasy on their day and while you are at their sites, enter to win a fabric bundle – Benartex is giving one away each day!  The schedule is:

Tuesday: Mandy of Mandalei Quilts

Wednesday: Benartex Blog Design Team

Thursday: Alison of Little Bunny Quilts

Friday: Amanda of Material Girls Quilts

Also, if you are interested in hearing me blab on about what inspired this collection you can find that interview here.

And if you missed the patterns you can see them below.

Folklore
“Folklore” with SVG files but no Y-seams!

“Folk Garden” – minis with an SVG download code.

“Folk Art Lane” – so much fun to piece!

“Folk Art Flowers” – with optional digitized quilting designs from my Traditional Feathers collection – coming soon!

And last but not least “All-Star” – a modern one-block quilt with lots of movement.

Thanks everyone!  Have a wonderful week with lots of quilting!

Amanda

Introducing Folk Art Fantasy (and a giveaway)!

Posted on 439 Comments

Note: This giveaway is now over.   Congratulations to Judy Henly here and to Robyn Randolph Christie over in my Facebook Group!  I wish I had a bundle to give everyone but it will be in stores in July so there isn’t long to wait.  Patterns will be posted in mid-June.

Hi everyone!

It is now past Spring Market and I can finally show my new collection for Contempo Studios of Benartex – “Folk Art Fantasy”!

Folk Art Fantasy Booth - Spring Quilt Market 2017
My “Folk Art Fantasy” booth at Spring Market 2017!
“Folk Art Fantasy” prints

This modern collection celebrates the exuberance of and beauty of  handmade things.  It is happy and colorful – just the way quilting should be!  It ships in July and patterns will ship even sooner. (And it coordinates with Sewing Room, which came out last year.)

Without further ado, here are the new patterns…

Folklore
“Folklore”: A medallion quilt which is the inspiration for this collection. The pattern includes a full pull-out placement diagram and SVG files.

Folk Garden
“Folk Garden”: A whimsical applique triptych of mini quilts, also including SVG files for digital fabric cutters.

Folk Art Lane
“Folk Art Lane”: Build a village house by house! This quilt is entirely pieced and can be used as a block-of-the-month, or you can just make one row for a mini!

Folk Art Flowers
“Folk Art Flowers”: This one uses 1/3 yard of 12 fabrics for the blocks and is super-easy to piece. I used motifs from my new Traditional Feathers Quiltng Collection to quilt it. (The Quilting Collection will be out in about another month and is digitized both for domestic embroidery machines and longarms! I’ll post more about that next month.)

“All-Star”: Create a dynamic quilt using two colors of fabrics and three sizes of just one block. This one is deceptively easy to piece as it is all built on half-square triangles. There are two color stories of this one and I used the pantographs from my Traditional Feathers Quilting Collection to quilt them.

All quilts were pieced on a BERNINA 7-Series and quilted on the BERNINA Q24 using Aurifil thread, of course!

The patterns will start to ship to shops next week and will be posted to my website mid-June to accommodate my teaching schedule.

If you love what you see, please ask your local shop to order Folk Art Fantasy from Benartex!

Ok, now for the giveaway!  Benartex let me take this beautiful bundle of Folk Art home to give to you guys!  Just comment below to tell me which pattern you like best.  The deadline to enter is at midnight this Sunday, May 28th, 2017.  One comment per person please, and make sure that either your profile is public or you leave a way for me to contact you if you win.

For a second chance to win, make sure to do the same on the that shows these new patterns in my Facebook Group.

I hope you love Folk Art Fantasy and have a great week!  Happy quilting!
